Nineteen of the Russian's 21 championships have been earned on hardcourt
A revitalized Medvedev secured his initial championship for over two years with success over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.
Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has endured a challenging period, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and undergoing a setback at the New York tournament.
The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and struggles with his service game in particular - resulted in him dropping out of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.
Currently working with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over Frenchman Moutet.
It is Medvedev's maiden trophy following the Rome competition and first on a hard surface from spring of the previous year.
Success also signifies Medvedev has achieved twenty-one championships at 21 various competitions.
"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my children simultaneously, so to win a trophy is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 the champion.
"This victory is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I achieved when my older daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."
The tennis star, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, including in the German tournament in the past months.
The player's counter-punching strategy and frequent reactions on the tennis court had prompted observers to doubt if his ability to compete at the elite level was concluded.
Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and play aggressively, backed up by an improved service.
He came back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky opponent, winning four of the concluding five points to take the lead.
Both players traded breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his initial tour victory, seized the initiative to force a final set.
Moutet saved four initial chances in a close third set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to secure the win.
Appropriately, Medvedev earned the title with a rally at the net, with Moutet failing to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
